Dominique Rey
Dominique Rey is a multidisciplinary francophone artist whose work has been exhibited across Canada, the United States, and Europe, including Tabacka Art Center (Kosice, Slovakia), Galleri Box (Goteborg, Sweden), Art Center/South Florida (Miami Beach), National Galley of Canada (Ottawa), MOCCA (Toronto), Remai Modern (Saskatoon), Plug In ICA (Winnipeg), MacLaren Art Centre (Barrie), Gallery TPW (Toronto), Southern Alberta Art Gallery (Lethbridge), and Centre Clark (Montreal). Her art appears in numerous collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, Remai Modern, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Scotiabank, and the Province of Manitoba. Dominique Rey is the recipient of numerous awards and honours, including the Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council, the Winnipeg Arts Council, the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, and La Fondation Ricard. Her work has been reviewed in the Globe &; Mail, Border Crossings, Frieze, Canadian Art, Black Flash Magazine, Flare, and the Winnipeg Free Press. She holds a MFA in Photography from Bard College (NY) and a MFA in New Media from the Transart Institute (Berlin). Rey was awarded the Canada Council for the Arts International Artist Residency at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2016. What connects her various works is “the tension of being outside one’s own desires, a palpable absence of certainty and longing for connection – both from within and without” (Sandra Fraser).
